BESS Asset Manager
Confidential – energy infrastructure sector
Location: London
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 per year

The role
The BESS Asset Manager will take ownership of operational performance across a growing portfolio of battery storage assets, acting as the key link between the business, its O&M contractors, and route-to-market partners to maximise revenue and asset value.

Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day commercial and technical performance of a portfolio of operational BESS assets.
- Oversee O&M contractors and route-to-market/optimisation partners, holding them to performance targets.
- Track asset availability, degradation, and revenue performance, reporting against budget and forecast.
- Manage warranty, insurance, and compliance obligations across the portfolio.
- Support the transition of new assets from construction into operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve asset performance, contract terms, or revenue strategy.
Essential skills and experience

- Degree in Engineering, Energy, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in asset management within battery storage, renewables, or flexible generation.
- Strong commercial understanding of energy markets, route-to-market structures, and revenue optimisation.
- Confident managing O&M contractors and third-party service providers.
- Proficiency with asset performance/monitoring platforms and Microsoft Office/Power BI.
Desirable
- Experience with GB balancing/ancillary services markets or equivalent European markets.
- Knowledge of grid codes, connection agreements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with SCADA/asset monitoring systems for battery storage.
