Asset Manager

The Asset Manager is responsible for the technical, commercial, and financial management of Qair’s operational renewable energy portfolio, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant asset operation. This role maximizes performance, revenue, and lifecycle value through asset optimization, contractor management, commercial strategies, and stakeholder engagement, while supporting the full asset lifecycle from construction handover to long-term operation.

Accountabilities include portfolio compliance, performance targeting, revenue/cost optimization, O&M contractor oversight, lifecycle reliability, reporting, with cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Commercial, Finance, Development, and Construction teams to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Project Performance & Optimisation

  • Take day-to-day ownership of technical and financial performance, tracking against budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor SCADA systems and asset management platforms, escalating underperformance, faults, and data anomalies
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess asset condition, verify contractor compliance, and identify improvements
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports highlighting HSE, commercial performance, risks, and technical issues
  • Provide exemplary HSE leadership and implement best practice asset management across the portfolio

Contractor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with O&M contractors, major suppliers, and OEMs, ensuring service delivery meets contractual KPIs and obligations
  • Chair operational review meetings, driving accountability for fault resolution, maintenance backlogs, and performance improvements
  • Administer O&M contracts, including variations, performance deductions, and contractual notices
  • Support procurement activities for new O&M contracts or retendering exercises
  • Maintain relationships with network operators, off-takers, and external stakeholders

Commercial & Revenue Management

  • Optimise revenues across all routes to market (PPA’s, cPPA’s, CfDs)
  • Oversee offtake agreements, trading strategies, and settlement processes with counterparties
  • Identify value enhancement opportunities (contract restructuring, merchant exposure, co-location strategies)
  • Own asset-level financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting variance analysis, and cost optimization
  • Ensure accurate metering, settlement, and revenue capture, recovering losses from curtailment, grid constraints, or equipment failures

Asset Lifecycle & Capital Projects

  • Provide operational input into technical due diligence for acquisitions, including O&M reviews and historical performance data
  • Support handover of newly constructed assets into operations, establishing monitoring processes and maintenance regimes
  • Assist in preparation of technical documentation for refinancing, financing, or asset transactions
  • Project manage value protections and optimisation initiatives, including spares strategies, procurements, and material contract negotiations
  • Contribute to asset life extension assessments, performance enhancement, and repowering studies

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with licenses, consents, O&M contracts, land leases, and other project-level agreements
  • Identify and manage commercial, contractual, market, and operational risks
  • Lead insurance claims management and recovery processes
  • Maintain HSE, Environmental, and operational governance compliance
  • Liaise with network operators regarding connection agreements, outages, and compliance obligations
  • Ensure operation invoices are issued and paid in a timely manner
  • Take SPV company directorships as required

Essential Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with banks, investors, advisors, and senior management
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency in PowerPoint and reporting
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and ability to perform in a fast-paced and evolving industry

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience managing operational renewable energy assets (wind, solar, and/or battery energy storage systems)
  • Strong understanding of asset management principles, O&M contracts, and contractor management
  • Experience managing operational budgets and financial performance
  • Knowledge of UK electricity markets, including PPAs, CFDs, Capacity Market, and flexibility markets, is desirable
  • Understanding of SCADA systems and performance monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of grid connections, metering, settlement processes, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify value optimization opportunities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across a diverse asset portfolio

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Professional membership (e.g., IET, APM, or CMI) or a commitment to working towards accreditation is desirable rather than essential
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to operational sites as required
