The Role
CBRE's Loan Services business is growing its EMEA portfolio of commercial real estate (CRE) loans, and we are looking for an Asset Manager to sit at the centre of that growth.
To be successful in this role, you will need strength across three core areas:
Credit Underwriting and Assessment — hands-on experience underwriting CRE, Buy-to-Let (BTL), bilateral and syndicated loans, with the ability to assess credit risk, evaluate collateral and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Loan Operations and Administration — proven capability managing drawdowns, rollovers, covenant monitoring, LMA documentation and MIS reporting across a live, multi-asset portfolio.
Regulatory and Compliance — working knowledge of FCA, PRA, AML and KYC requirements, with experience coordinating with solicitors, Land Registry and Companies House to ensure full documentation and legal compliance.
Transferable skills have come from loan operations and credit administration, credit underwriting and risk analysis, and mortgage or BTL case management background.
You will own the monitoring, servicing and accounting of an active loan portfolio spanning the UK and continental Europe, working directly with lenders, borrowers and internal stakeholders to keep the portfolio performing and growing.
What You Will Be Doing
- Service CRE loans across the UK and continental Europe, monitoring performance and the borrower's ability to meet payment obligations.
- Prepare regular loan performance reports and collateral reviews, including operating statement analyses, rent rolls and covenant calculations.
- Evaluate lender consent items on loan and real estate-related matters, preparing clear recommendations for internal stakeholders.
- Manage the set-up of new loans in the loan servicing system and maintain the integrity of all loan data.
- Monitor borrower compliance with loan documentation requirements, including property insurance, hedging obligations and financial reporting submissions.
- Provide day-to-day client service to lenders and borrowers, handling queries with accuracy and professionalism.
- Support and develop junior team members on servicing tasks and analytical work.
- Contribute to special projects and business development initiatives as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
