About Us

At National Gas, the work we do matters.
As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.
Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the Role

National Gas Transmission (NGT) has an exciting and important role in leading a fair energy transition towards net zero. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today.
We are navigating through an exciting time as we evolve to meet net-zero targets for 2050. We commit to deliver to our customers and end consumer in our Business Plan which we submit to Ofgem every five years. Uncertainty Mechanisms allow us to adjust the scope of the plan (and related funding) based on the changing energy landscape.
Working to build our Uncertainty Mechanism (UM) Re-opener Submissions (think about it as mini-business plans!) will put you at the forefront of evolving the UK’s gas infrastructure to meet net zero targets and drive much-needed investments for consumers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
