Book to Screen and Stage Assistant
Book to screen and stage adaptations are more popular than ever. Aitken Alexander Associates is a well-established, top literary agency negotiating deals and representing writers/managing careers throughout the UK, America, and internationally. Our successful Film/TV department is an important part of our global strategy. Recent adaptations include:
- 500 Miles starring Bill Nighy (adapted by Malcolm Campbell and directed by Morgan Matthews)

Lesley Thorne handles the agency’s book to screen and stage business while also representing her own clients for screenwriting and publishing including supporting agency book clients to write for screen. She is also the agency’s Co-Managing Director.
The Role
The right candidate should see this opportunity as a chance to learn how to be an agent. Everyday tasks will be largely administrative such as invoicing, data-input and diary organisation but you will also be developing editorial and agenting skills, analysing books and scripts, building skills in contractual and financial negotiation including international stage licensing and liaising with writers, publishers, and producers. Prior experience in either the publishing or film/tv business is essential. Current assistant is also giving editorial/reading support to one of our senior literary agents and that will continue to be a smaller part of the role.

Salary
- £30k with up to £1000 relocation costs available for a successful candidate located outside London.
- 1-2 years industry related experience essential.
- Start date – flexible.
