About The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant Assistant to join our Finance team in Liverpool.
This role will provide essential support across accounting, treasury, reporting, tax compliance, and ERP management activities, helping to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information. The successful candidate will also act as the local Dynamics 365 Key User, supporting system adoption and process improvements across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career in finance and accounting, with a clear pathway towards professional qualifications such as CIMA.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Process supplier and customer invoices accurately and on time.
- Maintain accounting records and post expenses, accruals, and provisions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Manage creditor accounts, ensuring payments are correctly allocated and balances are accurate.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions with the parent company.
- Support the maintenance of accurate financial records and controls.

Treasury & Accounts Receivable
- Process payments and collections.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue receivables.
- Maintain reconciled and up-to-date customer ledgers.
- Prepare treasury-related accounting entries.
- Ensure proper document management and filing of financial records.
Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Assist in preparing data for management reporting.
- Participate in stock counts and inventory control processes.
- Help ensure deadlines are met and reporting requirements are delivered accurately.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare VAT returns and other statutory submissions.
- Reconcile VAT returns with management accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate documentation with auditors, tax advisors, and the parent company.
- Support compliance with local accounting and tax regulations.
ERP & Data Management
- Maintain and update accounting information within Dynamics 365.
- Act as the local Dynamics 365 Key User, providing first-line support to colleagues.
- Manage and maintain supplier, customer, and accounting master data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.

What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in an accounting, finance, or bookkeeping role.
- Experience working with ERP systems; Dynamics 365 experience is desirable.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
