Role: Assistant Accountant
Location: Cleckheaton (Office Based)
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 + Benefits
A well-established manufacturing business is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment who enjoys working with inventory, stock accounting and factory finance.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting month-end reporting and working closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure stock accuracy. This is a varied position offering exposure to management accounting, cost analysis and continuous process improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile raw material, work in progress and finished goods stock.
- Investigate stock variances and work with operational teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Analyse inventory movements, production costs and material usage.
- Support regular stock takes and ensure accurate financial reporting of inventory.
- Assist with product costing and margin analysis.
- Produce weekly and monthly financial reports for management.
- Support external audits and provide inventory-related information.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and stock processes.

Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
- Manufacturing, FMCG or production environment experience is highly desirable.
- Experience of inventory accounting, stock reconciliations or cost accounting.
- AAT qualified or studying ACCA/CIMA (or qualified by experience).
- Strong Excel skills and experience of ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who can build relationships across finance and operations.
- Proactive approach with a desire to improve processes.
