Role Overview

In a Nutshell…

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our team within Vistry South East, at our office in Redhill, Surrey (RH1 1QZ). As our Assistant Accountant, you will support the Regional Finance function in maintaining and reporting accurate financial records and provide insightful financial and commercial analysis. You will assist in preparation of monthly forecasts, the annual budget and long-term strategic plan.

  • Strong GCSE/A-levels or equivalent
  • Working towards recognized accountancy qualification or desire to begin studying ACA/ACCA/CIMA

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook and particularly Excel is vital
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • Strong mathematical and IT skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable…

  • Finance related degree or part-qualified accountant
  • Experience of professional finance environment e.g. placement or work experience
  • Knowledge of the housebuilding/construction industry
  • Experience using COINS or Anaplan
  • Ability to explain technical financial information clearly to non-finance people

More about the Assistant Accountant role…

  • Own the reporting of regional key performance indicators and management information, both financial and non-financial, to senior management. Examples include weekly sales reporting and monthly forward orderbook position.
  • Support with the month end close process and own the weekly cashbook postings.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for low and medium risk accounts, preparing appropriate documentation to support existing balances and uphold financial controls.
  • Raise invoices to partners for contracted income and track receipts.
  • Support with financial administration of sites including setting up contract series and plot information in COINS and HARP systems
  • Support with the preparation of short-term cash forecasts and the monthly reforecast and associated deliverables.
  • Support with the preparation of the annual budget / strategic plan and associated deliverables.
  • Ad-hoc generation and analysis of information to support key stakeholders.
