Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment are supporting a growing organisation based in Kingswells, Aberdeen to recruit an Assistant Accountant to their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous finance experience who enjoys working across a broad range of accounting responsibilities and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working closely with the Accountant and Finance Director, you'll gain exposure across the full finance function while contributing to the continued success of a growing business. The organisation can offer genuine progression opportunities alongside study support for professional qualifications.
The position is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working available.

As an Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting month-end activities, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the business.

Responsibilities
- Preparing and performing bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Raising and processing sales invoices, ensuring accurate recording of revenue and customer transactions
- Supporting credit control activities
- Assisting with month-end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journals
- Supporting the Accountant with reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting requirements
- Setting up manual payments and BACS payment runs through banking portals
- Preparing cash-in-transit reconciliations and resolving outstanding items
- Preparing and submitting National Statistics returns
- Supporting VAT compliance by preparing analysis and information for external tax advisors
- Assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and internal policies
- Supporting cashflow forecasting activities
- Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting requirements
Background and Experience
We're looking for someone who:
- Has at least 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role
- Is confident using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel
- Has strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Can manage competing priorities and work effectively to tight month-end deadlines
- Has strong communication skills and can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Is comfortable working independently and using their own initiative
- Demonstrates a professional and proactive approach to their work
