Have you worked your way up in a finance environment and are ready for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic support services team at Scaled Solutions Ltd as an Assistant Accountant. If you are motivated, proactive, have finance experience, and are eager to contribute to the success of a growing business, this role is perfect for you. If your experience has been within the finance function of an SME, this will be advantageous.


About the Role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Finance function. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and Management Accountant, handling a variety of financial tasks that are vital for our business operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Post transactions and resolve internal and external queries
  • Prepare project cost reports and assist with stock takes
  • Analyse cost of sales and review project costs
  • Assist the Management Accountant with accruals and prepayments
  • Reconcile balance sheets for debtors, creditors etc.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts and group accounts
  • Generate budget reports and handle overseas supplier payments
  • Update fixed asset register and post depreciation
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Handle foreign currencies and withholding tax

Working Patterns

We offer a variety of working patterns upon completion of probation, including a compressed week and 9-day fortnight.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within an SME
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and SAGE Line 50 or similar accounting software
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • HNC/HND Accounting qualifications are desirable

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and meet tight deadlines
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
