Your new role

As Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering day-to-day management accounting and financial reporting services for a large operational division. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with budget setting, forecasting, monitoring, and financial planning activities.
  • Producing accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports.
  • Investigating budget variances and providing meaningful analysis to budget holders and senior managers.
  • Supporting budgetary control processes and expenditure monitoring.
  • Providing financial information and advice to operational stakeholders.
  • Maintaining financial records within an integrated financial management system.
  • Developing and enhancing reporting tools, including advanced spreadsheet-based analysis.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial reporting requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • AAT/IATI qualified, part-qualified CCAB (or equivalent), or hold a relevant accounting degree.
  • At least 2 years' experience in management accounting, including three of the following:
    • Budget setting, forecasting, and expenditure monitoring.
    • Financial analysis, management reporting, and variance investigation.
    • Integrated finance systems and advanced Excel reporting.
    • Process improvement within a finance function.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.
  • Basic Access NI clearance (or willingness to obtain).

What you'll get in return
