Assistant Accountant
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £33,000 to £35,000 plus benefits
Type: Permanent, full time

SRM is partnering with a well established business in Stevenage to recruit an Assistant Accountant into its growing finance team.
This is a great time to join. The business is investing in automation and AI across its finance function and wants someone who will help shape how the team works as it evolves. You'll build strong technical accounting skills while gaining real experience with the tools that are reshaping the profession, putting you in an excellent position as you qualify.
The Role
This is a broad and varied role with exposure across the whole finance function. You will:

- Support month end, including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to the monthly management accounts
- Maintain the fixed asset register and support VAT returns
- Help roll out AI and automation tools to streamline finance processes
- Assist with audit preparation and ad hoc projects
As you progress through your studies, there is scope to take ownership of the management accounts and grow into a Management Accountant role.
About You
- Studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or AAT qualified and looking to progress to ACCA or CIMA
- Experience in a finance role, ideally including month end or reconciliations
- Confident with Excel and interested in how technology can improve finance
- Organised, proactive and keen to build a long term career in finance
