Assistant Accountant
£30,000-£35,000 | Full-Time | Permanent | Cambridge
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in a varied and hands-on role.
Working closely with senior finance leadership, you'll play a key role in supporting month-end processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
This position would suit someone with previous finance experience who is looking to broaden their responsibilities and gain further exposure to management accounting and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers.
- Performing balance sheet and ledger reconciliations.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries.
- Supporting payment runs and cash management activities.
- Managing company credit card and expense reconciliations.
- Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and year-end processes.
- Producing financial reports and analysis as required.

About You
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance role.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience with reconciliations and month-end activities.
- Good Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software.
- Studying AAT or actively developing an accounting career would be advantageous.
- Organised, proactive, and keen to learn.
