We're recruiting on behalf of a successful, well-established business with a fantastic reputation for investing in its people. Due to continued growth, they're looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join their friendly and supportive finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA who wants more than just a transactional finance role. You'll gain exposure to month-end accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, VAT returns and business partnering activities, giving you the experience needed to accelerate your finance career.

The Role

Working closely with experienced finance professionals, you'll support key accounting activities and play an important role in the month-end process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and posting journals
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Bank and cash reconciliations
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Supporting period-end and month-end reporting
  • VAT returns and related statutory submissions
  • Assisting with financial analysis and reporting
  • Providing support across the wider finance team
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who are motivated, eager to learn and looking to build a long-term career in finance.

You'll ideally have:

  • Studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA (or planning to continue your studies)
  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or finance-based role
  • Strong Excel skills and good numerical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive and positive approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • The desire to progress and take on greater responsibility over time
