Description
Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function through month-end reporting, payroll administration, reconciliations, audit support, and financial control processes. This position offers excellent exposure across the finance department and would suit someone who is actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification or looking to further develop their accounting career.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Support the month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Prepare and post accounting journals to the general ledger.
- Assist with the preparation of management accounting information.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is maintained.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences and ledger discrepancies.
- Support the annual external audit process.
Payroll & Financial Administration
- Assist with payroll administration, including pension compliance and payroll adjustments.
- Support payroll submissions and liaise with external providers where required.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders.
- Monitor sales ledger activity and support associated accounting processes.
Controls & Process Improvement
- Undertake financial control and first-line assurance activities.
- Support the maintenance of a robust control environment.
- Assist with finance and business-led projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies across the finance function.
Team Support
- Provide assistance across the wider accounting team, including bookkeeping and general ledger support.
- Support colleagues with ad hoc reporting, investigations, and finance-related tasks.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to deliver accurate and timely financial information.

Profile
About You
You will be an organised and enthusiastic finance professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working within an accounting or finance function.
- Strong accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
- Understanding of financial controls and reconciliation processes.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a flexible and proactive approach.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Sage 200 experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and best practice.
- Financial Services experience.
- Knowledge of Asset Finance.
Qualifications
One of the following:
- Accounting Technician qualification (or equivalent).
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or actively studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification.
Job Offer
- Salary ranging from £32,000 to £38,000 dependent on the level of experience.
- Fixed-term contract with potential for career development.
