We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day Accounts Payable and procure-to-pay processes while also playing an important role in month-end close and financial control.

You will own the AP process from purchase request, PO and contract through to invoice, payment and reconciliation, while ensuring costs are accurately reflected in the accounts through accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations. If this sound like you, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the end-to-end Accounts Payable and procure-to-pay process across multiple entities and currencies.
- Process, code and post supplier invoices accurately and on time, ensuring correct entity, ledger and tax coding.
- Ensure all supplier invoices are supported by approved purchase orders and follow the appropriate approval process.
- Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding or aged items.
- Act as the key point of contact for purchasing processes, supporting employees and driving PO compliance across the business.
- Review new and renewal supplier contracts, ensuring appropriate budgets, approvals, financial controls and purchasing processes are in place.
- Prepare and reconcile supplier payment runs across multiple entities, bank accounts and currencies.
- Review and process employee expenses and corporate card transactions, ensuring compliance with company policy and tax requirements.
- Take ownership of month-end AP activities, including accruals, prepayments, ledger reviews and reporting accuracy.
- Drive financial controls, process improvements and automation initiatives to improve compliance, visibility of spend and month-end efficiency.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
