Overview
Our client, a confidential established manufacturing business in Worcester, seeks a proactive, commercially minded Assistant Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will support day-to-day finance operations, month-end routines, and routine reporting. Key duties include VAT preparation, payroll processing, reconciliations, and producing management information. This role offers flexible hours (30–37.5 per week) and a salary range of £30,000–£38,000 (FTE), with opportunities to influence process improvements and develop professionally within a supportive finance team.

- Manage accounts payable and receivable, handling supplier and customer queries promptly.
- Prepare bank and petty cash reconciliations, and process employee expenses.
- Prepare VAT returns, maintain HMRC compliance, and accurate supporting documentation.
- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Support month-end activities including accruals, prepayments, and general ledger postings.
- Produce management reports and undertake financial analysis to support business decisions.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting practice, VAT rules, and payroll processes.
- Practical experience using Sage and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proactive, organized, and meticulous with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Desirable: manufacturing sector experience and AAT Level 3/4 or equivalent.
