Assistant Accountant

The Assistant Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting effective financial controls and delivering timely financial information. Through attention to detail, strong customer service and collaboration across the business, the role contributes to informed decision-making, operational efficiency and the achievement of TGW's strategic and financial objectives.

You'll be joining a UK finance team of 28 who mainly work out of our Market Harborough office on a hybrid basis. This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

What you'll be handling:

  • Prepare and process bank payments.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations.
  • Review accounting postings and investigate discrepancies.
  • Process journals, including warranty reversals and other month end entries.
  • Process and post supplier invoices accurately and on time.
  • Support month end and year end closing activities.
  • Assist with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Provide general administrative and accounting support to the Finance team.

What you'll need:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous experience working in a finance role
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement within the department.
  • Knowledge of ERP software, e.g. Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Confidential nature of the work
  • Ability to work under pressure in an environment where task deadlines or requirements can change
