Assistant Accountant

Three Bridges Recruitment is working with a growing technology business in Edinburgh looking for an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on a 15-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid transactional finance experience who wants a broader role, more responsibility and exposure across both UK and international operations.

Why work here?

You’ll join a small, experienced finance team within a growing and entrepreneurial technology business.

The structure is relatively flat, giving you exposure across finance and the opportunity to take genuine ownership of your work.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Salary around £35,000
  • 15-month fixed-term contract
  • Hybrid working
  • Broad exposure across AP, AR, banking and month-end
  • UK and international finance experience
  • Opportunity to support projects and process improvements
  • Support from an experienced finance team

The Edinburgh office is relatively small, so this will suit someone comfortable working independently while staying closely connected to colleagues across the wider business.

Job

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll manage a broad range of day-to-day finance activity across the UK and international entities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Raising customer invoices and managing accounts receivable
  • Credit control, customer ageing and late payment follow-up
  • Managing accounts payable and supplier queries
  • Preparing weekly payment runs and raising purchase orders
  • Bank reconciliations and employee expense cards
  • Supporting month-end reporting and year-end audit
  • Supporting international invoicing and GST processes
  • Managing customer and supplier set-up
  • Working with Sage Intacct, HubSpot and other finance systems
  • Supporting finance projects and process improvements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

There’s a good mix of core accounting work and wider projects, particularly around improving and automating existing processes.

You

As Assistant Accountant, you will bring:

  • Around three years’ experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong AP, AR and bank reconciliation experience
  • Good accounting fundamentals and Excel skills
  • Confidence working with finance systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach and good attention to detail
  • The confidence to question something when it doesn’t look right

Sage Intacct experience would be particularly useful, although it isn’t essential.

You could be studying towards an accounting or bookkeeping qualification or be qualified by experience. Practical knowledge and the ability to take ownership are more important.

About the Organisation

This is a growing technology business with UK and international operations.

The finance function is small, collaborative and hands-on, providing broader exposure than you might find within a larger team. The business is also continuing to develop its systems and processes, giving you the opportunity to contribute ideas and improvements rather than simply maintain what already exists.

Please note: due to the nature of the organisation’s work, the successful candidate will need to obtain an appropriate level of security clearance. This requires a minimum of five years’ UK residency and history.

Interested?

At Three Bridges Recruitment, two of our values are “striving for brilliance” and “relatability”. We want every applicant to receive an excellent experience and feel confident that a role is genuinely right for them.

If you’re an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for a broad role within a growing business where you can take ownership and continue developing your experience, please apply with your most up-to-date CV or contact us for a confidential discussion.
