Vertu Motors PLC
Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for your next challenge? Do you want to join one of the UK's leading automotive retail groups and develop your career within a supportive and fast-paced environment?
At Vertu Motors, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to become a key part of our Property Finance team.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of up to £30,000, depending on experience, along with an excellent benefits package and genuine opportunities for career development.
What You'll Be Doing
Whilst the customer-facing part of the business deals with everything to do with buying, selling, and repairing vehicles, we manage the Properties that the entire group operates from. We have a large portfolio of properties, and the finance team accounts for all the transactions that form part of the property life cycle – from buying property, selling property, refurbishing property, property repairs and maintenance, property leases and renewals, rent reviews, and everything else in between!
Working closely with the Accountant and wider Property team, you'll play an important role in ensuring the financial performance of the property function is accurately monitored and reported. You'll provide valuable financial information and analysis that supports decision-making and helps deliver effective financial management across the property portfolio. This is a very busy department, and so you will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to think on your feet as no two transactions are the same.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
