Assistant Accountant
High-Growth Manufacturing Business
Derby (Hybrid working available)
£28-33k + Full Study Support
8am – 5pm Mon-Thurs, early finish on Fridays
Eaton Syalon is partnering with an investor-backed manufacturing organisation in Derby that has achieved exceptional growth. As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team.
This is an outstanding opportunity to gain broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, accounts receivable, operational finance, and month-end processes — all while receiving full study support and a clear pathway to becoming a fully qualified accountant.
The Role
- The successful candidate will support the finance function across a wide range of accounting and reporting activities, including:
- Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash book postings
- Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and national statistics reporting
- Assisting with maintaining the trial balance and updating supporting schedules
- Preparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciation
- Producing and issuing sales invoices and credit notes
- Maintaining the sales ledger and ensuring customer account accuracy
- Sending customer statements and actively chasing overdue debt
- Providing weekly debtor cash updates and monitoring customer advances
- Supporting month-end close processes including reconciliations and reporting
- Preparing monthly reports
- Assisting with cost centre reviews through analysis preparation and participation in review meetings
- Producing daily operational reports such as Hours vs Budget
- Processing and reconciling intercompany recharges on a monthly basis
- Ensuring intercompany balances are accurately recorded and fully supported
- Providing payroll processing cover when required
- Assisting with year-end activities and responding to audit requests

We are keen to speak with candidates who are:
- AAT qualified/studying or a Finance graduate
- Equipped with previous finance or accounts experience within a manufacturing setting
- Comfortable working with Excel and finance systems
- Organised with strong attention to detail
- Proactive, eager to learn, and keen to develop professionally
- Looking for a long-term opportunity with progression into a qualified accounting role
