Assistant Accountant – Part-Time Role

We're supporting an amazing and environmentally conscious and sustainably sourced retail and leading hospitality brand based in central London who are hiring a Permanent, Part-Time Assistant Accountant for an all-round role reporting into the Financial Controller.

It's a lovely role in a great business and they are looking for someone to be with them long term!

Role Overview

  • Location: Close to Charing Cross Station / Strand
  • Hours: 4 hours per day, 20 hours total per week. Only day you need to come in is Wednesday, WFH rest of the week. Ideal schedule might be 10-2pm each day, or 9:30-1:30pm, etc.
  • Notice Period: Immediately available or 1 week notice.
  • Salary: £17 - £20 per hour, 20 hours per week. Equivalent to a salary level around £36k - £40k (pro rata'd to 20 hours).

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily revenue, credit card payments, Stripe payments, bank accounts, and reports from the sales team against the ledger.
  • Communicate and proactively speak to internal teams and managers for invoice approvals.
  • Liaise with suppliers and events teams to get updates on outstanding payments or queries.
  • Ensure non-finance managers approve things on time.
  • Maintain regular updates on outstanding amounts for accurate weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Ensure month-end can be closed effectively.

Experience Needed

  • Experienced candidate around Assistant Accountant level who knows their debits and credits.
  • Experience in an all-round role in a small team under a senior accountant or Financial Controller.
  • Retail or hospitality experience is VERY helpful but not essential.
  • Experience with revenue, retail, sales reports, and reports from PDQ machines is beneficial.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals and ability to pick up new tasks quickly and communicate effectively is ideal.

Ideal Candidate

  • Already owned both sides of the ledger.
  • Great communication skills internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of debits and credits.
  • Ability to reconcile balance sheets, bank reconciliations, VAT, GL reconciliations, and month-end accruals, etc.
