Job Opportunity: Assistant Accountant/ Accounts Assistant
We are supporting a global top-tier Consulting and Litigation business based in the heart of the City in Monument to hire an Assistant Accountant/ Accounts Assistant for a fantastic all-round role. They are looking to interview and hire as soon as possible, so the successful candidate would be immediately available or with a maximum of 1 week's notice. Initially, this will be a 6-9 month contract but they need someone also on a permanent basis for the long term.
This role will be based in their London office and they are ideally looking for a progressive and ambitious candidate with around 2-4 years of experience who has already started to assist or work on month-end and accounts preparation in a lean finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- System Migration Support: Act as a point of contact for the system implementation consultants, working alongside the external consultancy partner to clean data, assist with user acceptance testing (UAT), and document new workflows.
- Core Accounting: Maintain the accuracy of the sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring correct coding across multi-currency business lines.
- Reconciliations & Cash Flow: Conduct monthly bank, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Credit Control & Billings: Manage invoicing cycles and track client disbursements.
- Reporting Assistance: Support the senior management team with month-end close, accrued expenses, and preparing management accounts.
- Process Improvement: Proactively spot inefficiencies in transactional accounting and help streamline them post-migration.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 2-3 years of core experience in an accounts assistant or assistant accountant position, ideally within professional services or consulting.
- Systems Mindset: A strong technical affinity. Prior experience with system upgrades, database migrations, or financial transitions is a massive plus.
- Self-Starter Attitude: A proactive individual who thrives with autonomy, actively seeks solutions, and handles rapid timelines with composure.
- Analytical Polish: Advanced Excel skills and an analytical approach to data management.

Duration
- Initially a 6 or 9-month contract. They are happy with someone who only wants a contract or someone who would ideally like a temp to perm role with long-term progression.
Hybrid
- Their culture is focused on collaboration and ensuring everyone feels valued. New team members spend their first 6 months primarily 5 days in the office, then can be hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
- As they need someone onboard quite quickly, they are open to offering this hybrid arrangement sooner after someone has been initially trained up and can discuss this directly in the interview.
Salary
- £36k - £46k. Depending on experience and ideally have someone in the office 5 days initially.
