The Role

Are you an ambitious Civil Engineer looking to develop your career in Bridge Engineering? At Project Centre, we're looking for an Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our growing Structures team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of bridge and civil structures projects, supporting experienced engineers while developing your technical expertise. You'll gain hands-on experience across design, assessment, and inspection projects, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that supports your professional growth and progression towards chartered or incorporated status.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assisting with the design, assessment, and inspection of bridges and civil structures.
  • Producing technical calculations, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Applying structural engineering principles and UK design standards to deliver practical solutions.
  • Structural analysis and assessments.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects safely, on time, and to the highest quality.
  • Managing your own workload to meet project programmes and deadlines.
  • Following Project Centre's Quality Management System and safe systems of work.
  • Promoting sustainable engineering solutions wherever possible.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary teams across the wider business.
  • Continuing your professional development and working towards chartered or incorporated status.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated engineer who enjoys problem-solving, is eager to learn, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience supporting the design, assessment, or inspection of UK bridges and civil structures.
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics and its application to highway structures.
  • Understanding of Eurocodes, UK design standards, and relevant industry codes of practice.
  • Knowledge of bridge and civil structure analysis methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
  • Awareness of sustainability principles within engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience delivering technical engineering tasks and working safely on projects.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MiDAS, TEDDS, and SBD software.
  • Understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
  • Experience supporting budget or resource management.
  • Experience incorporating sustainable engineering solutions into projects.
