Opportunity for an Assistant Building Services Manager to join a well-known main commercial contractor, supporting the delivery of high-quality commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and new build projects across London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use sectors. Working alongside an experienced Senior Technical Services Manager and wider project teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and public health services throughout the project lifecycle.
This position would suit an ambitious Building Services Engineer, MEP Coordinator, or Assistant Building Services Manager looking to take the next step in their career with a contractor that offers excellent mentoring, technical development, and long-term progression.
About The Role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Building Services Manager to support the delivery of MEP services across a range of projects throughout London.
Reporting directly to the Senior Technical Services Manager, the successful candidate will assist with MEP design coordination, technical reviews, installation management, commissioning, and project handover, ensuring building services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality expectations.
Working alongside the Senior Technical Services Manager, Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors, and commercial teams, the Assistant Building Services Manager will gain exposure to all stages of project delivery while developing the skills required to progress into a Building Services Management role.

Responsibilities For Assistant Building Services Manager
- Support the Senior Technical Services Manager with the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and public health services from pre-construction through to completion
- Assist with reviewing MEP design information and identifying coordination, buildability, and value engineering opportunities
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers to support programme delivery
- Monitor the quality of MEP installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and company standards
- Support technical reviews, RFIs, and design development throughout the construction process
- Assist with planning, sequencing, and monitoring the progress of building services installations
- Coordinate interfaces between MEP trades and the wider construction team
- Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities
- Maintain QA/QC documentation and assist with project close-out procedures
- Identify technical issues and work alongside the Senior Technical Services Manager to develop practical solutions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Promote health, safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement across all project activities
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant Building Services Manager, Building Services Engineer, MEP Coordinator, or Building Services Engineer within the construction industry
- Experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or new build projects is advantageous
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and public health building services systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and coordinate design information
- Experience working with consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Knowledge of commissioning, QA/QC, and project handover processes desirable
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management
- CSCS card desirable
