Assistant Building Surveyor

📍 Newcastle Upon Tyne | Hybrid Working

An established national property and construction consultancy is looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join its growing Newcastle team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor with around 2+ years' experience who is currently progressing through their APC and looking to gain exposure to a diverse range of professional and project-led instruction across both public and private sector clients.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of a full range of Building Surveying services across the North East and wider region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking condition surveys, measured surveys and building inspections.
  • Assisting with project management and contract administration duties.
  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work and technical reports.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of refurbishment and alteration projects.
  • Carrying out defect diagnosis and preparing remedial recommendations.
  • Assisting with due diligence and acquisition surveys.
  • Working closely with clients and building strong professional relationships.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across multiple disciplines to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related RICS-accredited discipline.
  • Currently progressing through your APC, ideally with around 12 months completed.
  • Experience within a consultancy or client-side environment.
  • Exposure to both professional building surveying and project work.
  • Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Client-focused with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Experience within education, healthcare, local authority, government or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.
