About this opportunity
We're looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Business Support Manager to join the GCOO Executive Office. This role sits at the heart of executive governance and leadership activity, ensuring the smooth coordination of board and executive committee processes, high-quality briefing materials, and key stakeholder engagement.
You'll play a critical role in supporting the integrity and timeliness of governance activities, helping senior leaders make informed decisions through clear analysis, insightful recommendations and effective coordination across a broad stakeholder network.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the end-to-end management of Board and Group-level committee actions, ensuring all outputs are tracked and delivered through to closure.
- Leading the preparation, review and consolidation of executive briefing materials, drawing together information from multiple teams into clear recommendations and concise updates.
- Managing the timely production of key leadership and governance outputs, including executive meetings, leadership forums and engagement activity.
- Building effective relationships across senior leadership support teams to ensure priorities are understood, deadlines are met and risks are identified early.
- Analysing information from a range of sources to support decision-making and provide high-quality executive insight.
- Supporting continuous improvement of governance, reporting and business support processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

What you'll need
- Managing Key Relationships, with the ability to establish effective partnerships across senior stakeholder groups and coordinate activity across multiple teams.
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear executive briefings, presentations and written recommendations for senior audiences.
- Strong Critical Thinking capability, using information from a variety of sources to identify key themes, evaluate priorities and support decision-making.
- Demonstrable Data Literacy and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and produce concise, meaningful insights.
- High levels of Accountability, with proven organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of Decision Making and influencing stakeholders to achieve timely, high-quality outcomes.
And any experience of this would be really useful
- Previous experience supporting senior executives, executive offices or leadership teams.
- Knowledge of governance processes and committee management within a large organisation.
- Understanding of group governance frameworks, policies and procedures.
