Assistant Buyer

We are seeking a commercially minded, detail-focused Assistant Buyer to join our growing procurement team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction procurement and develop a long-term career.

You will support the sourcing and procurement of materials and plant, ensuring quality, value, and programme requirements are met. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, gaining insight into the financial and operational drivers that impact project performance.

Over time, as you progress in your career, you will take on broader responsibilities and develop a strong understanding of how effective procurement contributes directly to the profitability and growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with sourcing and procuring materials and plant to meet site requirements.
  • Obtain and analyse supplier RFQs, ensuring commercial competitiveness and alignment with tender allowances.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in line with procurement procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Chase deliveries as and when required.
  • Monitor and report on late deliveries.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain contract pricing schedules.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings with Senior Buyer.
  • Support Senior Buyer with delegated tasks.
  • Occasional site and supplier visits with Senior Buyer, as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
