About The Role

The successful candidate can be based from either Derby, or on the project in Assington (Sudbury), with flexibility to travel as and when required.

This role provides exposure to the full procurement lifecycle across one of the UK's largest electricity transmission programmes. The successful candidate will gain experience in procurement strategy, tendering, supplier management, commercial negotiations, governance, procurement planning and supply chain management, whilst developing a clear career path towards Buyer and Senior Buyer positions within Balfour Beatty Power T&D.

Please note this is an entry level role which would be a great fit for candidates with transferrable skills.

What you'll be doing

  • Support the procurement team with the sourcing, tendering, evaluation and award of materials, plant, subcontracts and services for the BTNO Project.
  • Assist in preparing and issuing RFQs, ITTs and other procurement documentation.
  • Obtain and analyse quotations to ensure best value and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support commercial assessments, supplier evaluations and due diligence activities.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations and the resolution of commercial and supply chain issues.
  • Action requisitions and support the purchase order process in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, tender trackers and procurement schedules.
  • Support the development and management of procurement plans and package strategies.
  • Liaise with operational, engineering and commercial teams to understand project requirements and delivery programmes.
  • Assist with market analysis and supply chain engagement to identify opportunities, risks and innovations.
  • Take responsibility for supplier performance monitoring and supply chain relationship management activities.
  • Contribute to forecasting, reporting and procurement progress updates.
  • Ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty governance, procurement procedures and delegated authority requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, sustainability and ethical procurement practices.
  • Demonstrate Balfour Beatty Values and Behaviours in all activities.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Good analytical and numerical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
