Job Description
Location: P J Conway Ltd, 58 Moneymore Road
Due to the continued expansion of the Conway Group, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to join our existing procurement team based at our Head Office in Magherafelt.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, commercially minded individual looking to develop their career within procurement. You will enjoy a varied role and play an important part in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our procurement and logistics processes.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised individual with an interest in procurement, purchasing and supplier management.
Main Duties To Include But Not Limited To
- Support the implementation and maintenance of effective procurement processes.
- Assist with procurement of materials and services, ensuring requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Review and process purchase orders for suppliers in relation to works orders.
- Liaise with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability and delivery requirements.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers.
- Assist with negotiating pricing and securing competitive procurement deals.
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, systems and reports.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure materials and services are available when required.
- Provide general administrative and purchasing support to the procurement team.

About The Role
Key Skills
- Proactive and positive attitude, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Good document management and administration skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a procurement environment.
Desirable Criteria
- Degree or similar qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline would be beneficial.
- Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, supply chain or administration role.
- Knowledge of purchasing systems would be beneficial.
