About the Role
We’re working with a leading UK fashion retailer known for making trend-led style accessible, fun and affordable. With a strong presence across online, mobile and hundreds of stores across the UK and Ireland, the brand is passionate about putting the customer at the heart of everything it does. They’re now looking for an assistant buyer to join their kidswear team and play a key role in creating exciting, commercial product for their customers. OR they have a role on the ladies knitwear team, ideally some knitwear experience would be preferable.
Responsibilities
As an assistant buyer, you’ll support the buyer across the full product journey, from initial design brief through to launch. You’ll identify key trends and translate them into commercially focused product, work closely with design, merchandising, technical, marketing and ecommerce teams, and build strong relationships with UK and international suppliers. You’ll also negotiate costs, monitor supplier performance, manage critical paths, analyse sales and product performance, respond to market trends and support the wider team in achieving sales and margin targets.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have strong fashion product and trend knowledge, with a good understanding of customer preferences and the kidswear/knitwear market. You’ll be commercially aware and confident analysing sales, stock and product performance, with experience supporting the end-to-end buying and product development process. Strong supplier negotiation, communication and organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate effectively across teams. Previous experience as an assistant buyer is essential, not open to BAAs.
