About the team
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Seasonals team within GM Commercial. You will work across a varied and highly visible category, from Outdoor Living accessories that help customers create inviting garden spaces to Dinnerware, licensed lunch boxes and branded drinkware. With a mix of seasonal trading, well-known suppliers and own-label development, the role offers broad exposure across the end-to-end buying cycle.
More about the role
As Assistant Buyer, you will support the Buyer or Senior Buyer to deliver category sales, margin and supplier income targets. During spring and summer, you will help build and trade the Outdoor Living accessories range, including products such as outdoor rugs, cushions and lighting, while playing a key role in promotional planning across the Seasonals department.
As the category moves into autumn and winter, your focus will also include Dinnerware and related ranges. Day to day, you will analyse performance, review pricing and competitors, coordinate samples and approvals, work with suppliers and cross-functional teams, and keep product and promotional activity moving against the critical path. The role is based at Ansty and requires regular travel to Bradwell, Milton Keynes for sample activity, particularly during peak periods.
More about you
You will have experience working as an Assistant Buyer and be able to demonstrate involvement in range, promotional and supplier activity. You are comfortable using sales, margin, pricing and market information to make recommendations, and you understand the importance of accurate administration, product data and delivery against fixed milestones.
You build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues, communicate clearly and take accountability for delivery. You will be organised, commercially focused and adaptable, with the confidence to manage changing priorities across a fast-moving seasonal category.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
