Role Description
The Assistant Chef role at Yum Yum Caribbean Cuisine is a full-time/part-time, on-site position based in Enfield. The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in preparing, cooking, and plating Caribbean dishes according to restaurant standards and recipes. Daily tasks include:

- Assisting with food prep
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Organising storage areas
- Ensuring ingredients are properly labelled and rotated

The role also involves:
- Following food safety and hygiene procedures
- Coordinating with front-of-house staff on order timing
- Helping to manage kitchen equipment and supplies
Additionally, the Assistant Chef may contribute to menu development, suggest new dishes or specials, and help train junior kitchen staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in cooking and preparing authentic Caribbean dishes.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen safety standards.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
- Strong organisation and time management skills to work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Capacity to work collaboratively in a team, communicate clearly, and take direction from senior chef.
- Commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards and complying with local food safety regulations.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
