Our Hotel
The Balmoral is located at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street, where the Old Town stops and the New Town begins. Our hotel’s majestic clock defines the city’s skyline, and since the day we opened in 1902, it has run three minutes fast to ensure our guests will never miss their train.
Your Key Responsibilities
Rocco Forte Hotels is a collection of iconic hotels that respects the individuality of location and its team members, encouraging them to be their natural selves while providing a local, authentic experience to our guests.
As a valued part of the Forte family, you will:
- Support our Chief Engineer in managing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance & engineering department to ensure we are fully compliant
- Ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction are constantly achieved
- Take pride in delivering exceptional maintenance services
- The successful candidate will assist in maintaining building systems, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting health & safety standards across the building
- Ensure emergency lighting is tested and maintained in line with the regulations
- Have a good understanding of Legionella awareness and health and safety legislation
- Supervising & Coordinating preventive maintenance work, regular safety, and maintenance inspections across the hotel
- Under the guidance of our Chief Engineer, you will coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure efficient and high-quality service is delivered
- Work closely with other departments to ensure safe and smooth hotel operations

Who we are looking for
We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals passionate about celebrating the individuality of our hotels and guests. We are looking for team members who bring:
- Proven 3 years of experience as an assistant maintenance engineer in a luxury hotel environment
- Computer literate with experience in using maintenance or building management systems
- Strong technical knowledge in areas such as air conditioning, plumbing, refrigeration, and boilers...
- Commitment to deliver excellence
- Positive and professional demeanor in all interactions
- Excellent natural communication
- Teamwork to ensure seamless service
- Enthusiasm for learning
- Team spirit and trustworthiness
- Self-motivation and flexibility
