Every year, thousands of children develop the skills they need to travel safely through our Child Pedestrian Training Programme. As an Assistant Child Pedestrian Trainer, you will support the delivery of engaging classroom and roadside training sessions in schools across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help young people build essential road safety awareness, promote safe behaviours and contribute to a programme that has a positive impact on children's independence, confidence and wellbeing.

What You Will Get To Do
- Support the Child Pedestrian Training Coordinator in delivering child pedestrian training programmes in schools across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
- Deliver both classroom-based and practical roadside training sessions to pupils.
- Adapt training delivery methods to accommodate weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
- Collect and record programme information and feedback as required.
- Help promote the benefits of the Child Pedestrian Training Programme to schools and stakeholders.
- Travel between schools during the working day to ensure effective programme delivery.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and help create a safe, engaging learning environment.
- Support the safe supervision and management of pupils during training activities outside the school setting.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

What You Will Bring
- Knowledge of basic road safety principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational and numeracy skills.
- Experience of applying organisational skills within a work environment.
- The ability to build positive rapport and engage effectively with children and young people.
- The ability to supervise and maintain the safe control of pupils outside the classroom environment.
- A flexible, customer-focused and collaborative approach, with a commitment to learning and delivering excellent service.
