Now is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on this transformative journey towards a greener future.

About The Role

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS - Please ensure you meet these before applying:

This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious civil engineer technician at the beginning of your career to accelerate your skills within a complex, operational port environment. You'll work on diverse infrastructure projects ranging from quayside structures and pavements to drainage systems and utilities - all within a live, 24/7 operational setting that presents unique engineering challenges.

As a Civil Engineering Technician, you'll take genuine ownership of projects from inception through to completion, supported by our experienced Engineering leadership team. This isn't a graduate training scheme - you'll be managing real projects with budgets, programmes, and contractor interfaces from day one.

Typical Projects Include

  • Quayside and marine structure repairs and upgrades
  • Internal road and pavement reconstruction & repair programmes
  • Drainage and utilities infrastructure works
  • Structural inspections and remedial works
  • Port estate development projects supporting operational growth

This role requires regular site presence across the Port of Tilbury estate. Due to the operational nature of the port environment, regular remote working is not available. You must be within commutable distance of Tilbury.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Take ownership of civil engineering projects from feasibility through to practical completion
  • Manage project programmes, budgets (typically £50k - £500k)
  • Coordinate with operational teams to schedule works around 24/7 port activities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
