Job Purpose
We are looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Cleaning Manager to support the day-to-day delivery of our cleaning services.
Working closely with the Contract Manager and wider operational team, you will help manage cleaning teams across multiple sites, monitor service standards, coordinate staffing, support employees and ensure cleaning services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a varied operational role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems and maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
You will support the management of cleaning operations by:
- Supporting and supervising cleaning teams across multiple sites.
- Carrying out regular site visits, quality checks and cleaning audits.
- Monitoring cleaning standards and following up on any areas requiring improvement.
- Supporting the recruitment, induction and onboarding of new employees.
- Identifying training and development needs and supporting staff with appropriate training.
- Completing employee meetings, including return-to-work discussions and regular one-to-ones.
- Supporting absence management and helping arrange operational cover for sickness and annual leave.
- Working with the scheduling team to maintain effective rotas and appropriate staffing levels.
- Reviewing annual leave requests while considering operational requirements and service coverage.
- Monitoring cleaning equipment, machinery, materials and stock requirements.
- Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures and documentation are maintained.
- Reporting incidents, hazards and other health and safety concerns promptly.
- Supporting the mobilisation and introduction of new cleaning sites and services.
- Responding to customer queries and complaints and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are completed.
- Monitoring rectification works and following up to ensure required standards are achieved.
- Holding regular meetings with cleaning teams to provide updates, operational information and support.
- Maintaining accurate operational and employee records using company systems.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across operations, scheduling, HR and facilities management.
- Escalating significant staffing, performance, health and safety, customer or operational concerns to the appropriate manager.

About You
The successful candidate will be someone who:
- Has good organisational and time-management skills.
- Can confidently support and supervise employees.
- Has a strong focus on customer service and quality.
- Can identify problems and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with employees, customers and colleagues.
- Is comfortable using digital systems and mobile applications.
- Can maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
- Understands the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
- Can manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment.
- Works well independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- Is professional, approachable and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Is willing to travel between different work locations as required.
- Previous experience within cleaning, facilities management, supervisory or operational management would be beneficial.
Working Pattern
The role requires flexibility to meet operational requirements and may involve working across different sites. Working patterns may include early mornings, evenings and weekends, depending on operational needs. There may also be occasions when additional flexibility is required to respond to staffing issues, customer requirements or urgent operational matters.

You will lead by example, build positive working relationships with employees and customers, and help ensure that operational issues are identified and addressed promptly.
Overall Role Objective
The Assistant Cleaning Manager supports the effective delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality cleaning services. The role helps ensure employees are supported, sites are regularly monitored, staffing is effectively coordinated, service standards are maintained and operational issues are resolved promptly.
Our Offer to You
Salary: £25,948 - £30,948
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Base: Launceston / Bodmin
