The role

In this role, you would be required to maintain stakeholder and client relationships on an accounting front and contribute to the wider team vision and ethos of the organisation.

This position will involve closely working with property managers and administration staff and the wider management function. A confident approach is essential with the ability to work on your own but also a willingness to offer solutions and improvements to the current systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining property management systems and working within the Client Accounts team, which provides client accounting services for both commercial and residential properties. The role will report to the Associate Director of Management Accounting.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting the production of year-end service charge accounts, in line with recommended and statutory practice
  • Assisting the property managers with the drafting of annual service budgets and implementation of the same
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly/periodic client statements and VAT reports
  • Assisting property managers with arrears chasing and liaising with the property managers/clients for further action
  • Assisting department with general accounting duties such as receipt posting, supplier reconciliations and client pay overs
  • Assisting in the completion of bank reconciliations in accordance with RICS regulations and guidance
  • Ensuring the integrity of system data to be correct and accurate
  • Assisting in all client accounting services being provided to the client

Key skills and characteristics

  • Strong technical understanding of service charge accounting, client accounting principles and related property management processes
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate work to deadlines and identify potential discrepancies
  • Confident numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to review accounts, reconciliations, budgets and reports
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with property managers, clients, suppliers and internal colleagues
  • Organised and proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage competing deadlines and follow tasks through to completion
  • Collaborative team player who is also comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Client-focused mindset, with a professional, responsive and solutions-orientated approach to queries and service delivery
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and confidence using property management or accounting systems

Qualifications and experience

  • Must be experienced (3 years min) with a very strong understanding of service charge accounting
  • Experience and knowledge of a property management system such as PROPMAN, QUBE, TRAMPS or similar is desirable.
