We are recruiting for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join a major London public sector organisation on an interim basis.

This role will support the delivery of a key procurement programme, working closely with the Commercial Manager to coordinate tender activities, manage procurement documentation, engage stakeholders and ensure procurement exercises are delivered efficiently and compliantly.

Key Details

  • Contract: Until 18 December 2026
  • Location: Stratford, London (minimum 2 days per week in the office, team day Wednesday)
  • Rate: £256.80 PAYE / £350 Umbrella per day (Inside IR35)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Interview: One-stage MS Teams interview

The Role

You'll provide commercial and procurement support across a major procurement programme, helping to manage tender processes from initiation through to award.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting procurement activities through the e-tendering system.
  • Managing tender clarifications and responses.
  • Coordinating evaluation and consensus meetings.
  • Maintaining procurement documentation, records and trackers.
  • Supporting stakeholders throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Providing commercial and administrative support to the Commercial Manager.
  • Ensuring procurement activities are delivered in line with established processes and governance requirements.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience supporting procurement, commercial or contract management activities within a public sector environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and maintaining documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Confident communicator with a proactive and professional approach.
  • Experience maintaining records, trackers and procurement documentation.
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Procurement or commercial support experience.
  • Experience using e-tendering systems.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement processes and regulations.
  • SAP Ariba experience or exposure.
  • Experience supporting tender evaluations and supplier engagement activities.
