This busy region sees 1.3 million daily passengers and moves 700,000 tonnes of freight weekly, with 571 stations making up a quarter of Britain's rail network.

About The Role
Join our Commercial team as an Assistant Commercial Manager and support the successful delivery of Asset Protection & Optimisation (ASPRO) projects across the North West Route.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams, you'll help manage project costs, contracts, payments, variations and commercial risk, while ensuring value is delivered throughout the project lifecycle. You'll play an important role in supporting works carried out by outside and third-party organisations (customers), helping to protect Network Rail's assets and infrastructure.

About The Role:
- Assist the Commercial Manager in post-contract activities and managing project costs, income, payments, compensation events, contract variations and commercial risks, while providing effective commercial and contract administration support across a diverse range of ASPRO North West projects.
- Contribute to commercial reporting, helping to provide valuable insights into project performance and financial position.
- Support procurement activities, and the commercial management of a diverse portfolio of contracts, helping to drive value and successful project delivery.

Your Experience And Skills
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Good problem solving skills
- Basic level of commercial awareness
- Basic negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making
- Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software
We would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be:
- Able to effectively communicate at the appropriate levels, both internally and externally
- Membership of an appropriate professional organisation, or working towards membership
- Experience of using electronic sourcing and/or procurement systems
