Assistant Commercial Manager
We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Commercial Manager to join a major London public sector organisation on an interim basis within the Soft FM Procurement team. This role will support the Procurement Manager in delivering a wide range of procurement activities across multiple service areas, including cleaning, security, uniforms, hazardous materials, labour contracts, service contracts, licences and other facilities-related services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement exercises from inception through to award, ensuring compliance with public sector procurement regulations and organisational governance requirements. This opportunity would suit a procurement professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities and quickly become a valued member of a busy team environment.

Key Details
- Contract: Until 24 February 2027
- Location: North Greenwich, London (2-3 days per week in the office, remainder working from home)
- Rate: £265 PAYE / £361.17 Umbrella per day (Inside IR35)
- Start Date: ASAP
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering procurements with values of up to circa £8m.
- Supporting the Procurement Manager across a number of concurrent procurement activities.
- Managing end-to-end procurement exercises through public sector frameworks and open market competitions.
- Producing and reviewing contract and tender documentation.
- Evaluating supplier submissions and conducting commercial assessments.
- Working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver procurement solutions.
- Supporting contract and supplier engagement activities where required.
- Utilising e-procurement systems, including SAP Ariba.

Essential Experience
- Public sector procurement experience.
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement regulations, governance and the Procurement Act.
- Experience using public sector frameworks, including CCS frameworks.
- Proven experience managing procurement exercises from start to finish.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple procurement activities.
- Experience producing contract and tender documentation.
- Strong commercial analysis and tender evaluation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
