Assistant Commercial Manager
Location: London – Palestra/Pier Walk
Contract: 3 months with possible extension
Rate: Up to £361.17 per day Umbrella – Inside IR35
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite per week
We are recruiting for a number of Assistant Commercial Manager opportunities across London, supporting major infrastructure, facilities management, engineering and asset-based contracts. Rail experience is ideal but not essential, and candidates from other sectors with strong commercial and contract management experience are encouraged to apply.
The Role
You will provide commercial and contract support across a portfolio of live contracts, working closely with Commercial Managers and internal and external stakeholders. The roles are primarily post-contract focused, although candidates with end-to-end pre- and post-contract experience are welcome.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the commercial management of live contracts
- Reviewing payment applications and supplier submissions
- Raising and managing purchase orders
- Monitoring budgets, expenditure and financial forecasts
- Tracking actual spend against budget
- Producing commercial reports and updates
- Maintaining accurate contract and financial records
- Responding to commercial and contractual queries
- Reviewing contract documentation and scope
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders
About You
Essential:
- Strong post-contract commercial or contract management experience
- Experience working with live contracts and contractual documentation
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to quickly learn new systems

Desirable:
- Infrastructure, engineering, construction, FM or maintenance experience
- Experience managing multiple contracts or suppliers
- SAP, Ariba or similar systems
- Rail, transport or public-sector experience
Pre & Post-Contract Experience
Candidates with both pre- and post-contract experience are encouraged to apply. However, hands-on post-contract experience is essential; procurement or tendering-only backgrounds are unlikely to be suitable. Relevant qualifications such as RICS, CIPS or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
