If so, we would love to hear from you!

APHA is a brilliant place to work where our people feel valued, have a voice, and can be their authentic selves. We value difference and diversity because it helps us be more innovative and make better decisions.

We are dedicated to being an inclusive employer, offering equitable opportunities for all individuals. Our goal is to build a diverse workforce and we hope to attract applications from all backgrounds and underrepresented groups.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Regulatory Affairs, Compliance and Enforcement (RACE) team as an Assistant (FCP) Compliance Analyst.

Our team is responsible for ensuring that APHA operates as an effective National Regulator and deals with a wide-ranging portfolio of work covering all aspects of regulation, compliance, and enforcement.

The Assistant Compliance Analyst role will be responsible for providing analytical services which support RACE objectives and priorities by focusing on targeted operational activities based on compliance history and emerging risks or threats.

The position is vital to ensuring that any data relating to non-compliance can be identified, collated, and transformed into management information reports, allowing data to be evaluated and inform regulatory activities.

The postholder will be responsible for developing innovative reports using Microsoft Power BI software, identifying trends or patterns within the data, and supporting the development of new datasets where gaps in compliance information have been identified. These reports should be underpinned by robust semantic models as a further requirement of the role.

Person Specification

The Following Experience Is Required For The Role

Power BI Development and Data Modelling

  • Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining Microsoft Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards, producing high-quality analytical products that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Successful applicant will have or willingness to study towards Microsoft Certification Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).

Data Analysis And Insight

  • Demonstrable experience assessing large and complex datasets, applying analytical techniques to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, risks, and opportunities, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.

Data Management And Quality

  • Experience collating, cleansing, validating, and processing data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Microsoft Power Platform And Digital Tools

  • Practical experience of Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps, alongside strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Stakeholder Engagement And Data Sourcing

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, proactively identify and access relevant data sources, and translate business requirements into analytical solutions.

Communication And Presentation Skills

  • Ability to communicate complex analytical information effectively through reports, dashboards, presentations, and verbal briefings, adapting style and content to technical and non-technical audiences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

After submission of the first stage of your application, you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Numerical test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 23:55 on 20th August 2026. If you fail to complete the online test before the deadline, your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the test will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.

Do not leave completing the tests until the last minute in case you experience any access or technical issues. There may not be technical support available after business hours and after 2 pm on the closing date of 20th August 2026.

While the tests should work on most operating systems and modern browsers with a good internet connection, we cannot guarantee that every combination will work. At the beginning, the test will check which browser you are using, and alert you if it is likely to be incompatible.

It is highly recommended that you complete the online tests on a desktop computer, not a mobile phone or tablet.

Please note that online tests associated with this vacancy are not subject to time limits; for further information, visit the Reasonable adjustments for online tests - a candidate guide.

You will be required to complete this test by the same deadline requested for your written application. Please note, you must successfully complete the test to progress to the next stage.

You will also be required to complete the following as part of your application:

  • A CV submitted through an online tool accessed through the Civil Service Jobsite; there is no requirement to upload your personal CV.
  • A 750 word Personal Statement.

Your CV should consist of your career history, including any key achievements and your main responsibilities in each role, and be no longer than 2 pages. Your CV will be used to provide further context on your Personal Statement. The CV will not be scored but can be used to support your application.

For further guidance and information on how to construct your application (CV, Personal Statement, and Behaviours), you are encouraged to visit the Civil Service Careers website. How to write your CV, Civil Service Careers.

Personal Statement Guidance

When completing your Personal Statement, please read and understand the Person Specification thoroughly, as this is what your written evidence will be assessed against. Please ensure you evidence the key personal qualities and experiences that align with the criteria. Consider the Person specification and look to demonstrate how your previous experience may align with the expectations and be applicable to the role. The written evidence you provide must relate to your own experiences. Your layout is entirely your preference; you may choose narrative, bullets, etc.

We encourage you to use the full word allowance of the Personal Statement but not to exceed.

You may choose to address each criteria separately; however, one narrative example may cover and evidence several criteria.

Sift

Should a high volume of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the Personal Statement.

Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift and/or progressed straight to interview.
