Assistant Cost Manager – Infrastructure

Job Description

Title: Assistant Cost Manager – Infrastructure (Construction Delivery, Cost Management & Performance Measurement)

The Assistant Cost Manager will provide critical support to the Commercial Manager and wider Contracts and Framework team, assisting with construction delivery, cost management, and performance measurement.

Core Responsibilities

The following tasks reflect the role’s primary duties; this is not intended to be an exhaustive list:

  • Verifying and certifying payments to suppliers, ensuring the correct amounts are processed.
  • Developing procedures and systems for project cost management, improving efficiency and value for money.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly reports on cost positions and contract performance for allocated projects, keeping project teams informed.
  • Assisting in the development and compilation of NEC4 contract documents for projects (construction and professional services).
  • Reviewing existing contract documents, providing contractual advice to project managers, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Supporting the Commercial & Framework team to align with Government/Translink/and company-specific procedures for construction works and services.
  • Performing additional cost and contract management tasks as directed by the Commercial Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess the following:

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum degree in Quantity Surveying or another construction-related subject.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a construction contract environment.
  • Strong professional appearance and conduct.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in measurement and valuation of construction works.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word & Excel).
  • Budget control and financial management understanding.
  • Familiarity with building and civil construction technology, including supply chain management.
  • Ability to work professionally and confidently with colleagues and wider project teams.
  • Strong numeracy and financial analysis skills.
  • Ownership of deadlines and track recordings.
