Sweet Project Construction Limited (SPCL)

At Sweet Project Construction Limited (SPCL), we work with the data, defence, and energy sectors. Role Overview

This role is to be initially based on our Union Park project in Hayes. As principal contractor, we are constructing 18 Data Halls of approximately 1250m2 each, to be deployed at approximately 24MW of total useable IT power. Part of the development included the construction of an adjacent High Voltage Electrical Compound. This was linked to a Medium Voltage Energy Centre with dual backup power generation. The building mass consists of a series of staggered blocks, surrounded by an internal one-way circulation system with both soft and hard landscaping.

The MV Energy Centres are located either side of North Hyde Gardens are smaller in scale providing a stepping down appearance towards the Grand Union Canal. The HV Energy Centre is located to the east of the MV Energy Centre to the side of North Hyde Gardens. A single storey Visitor Reception Centre enabling security protocols for visitors and employees is located near North Hyde Gardens.

Role Purpose

The Assistant Design Manager supports the management of design delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

The role assists in coordinating design activities, monitoring programme performance, managing design information, and supporting compliance with client, technical, and regulatory requirements.

Experience Required

  • Experience within a multi-disciplinary construction design environment.
  • Experience supporting design delivery during project execution.
  • Understanding of design management processes from concept through handover.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM, and construction design principles.
  • Experience coordinating consultants and technical stakeholders is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Working towards chartered or professional membership is desirable.
  • Relevant design management training is desirable.

Responsibilities

Design Coordination & Delivery

  • Support the management of design delivery from concept through construction and handover.
  • Monitor design progress against agreed programmes and deliverables.
  • Assist in coordinating consultant and subcontractor design activities.

Programme & Design Management

  • Support design programme development and reporting.
  • Monitor design deliverables and identify programme risks.
  • Assist with management of Information Required Schedules and Information Delivery Plans.

Design Quality & Compliance

  • Support design reviews to ensure compliance with client requirements, regulations, and project objectives.
  • Assist with management of technical submissions, RFIs, and design approvals.
  • Promote Safety in Design principles across all design activities.

Construction & Project Support

  • Provide design support during construction.
  • Assist with design queries and coordination of design changes.
  • Support handover information, including as-built records and O&M documentation.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective working relationships with designers, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Attend and support design meetings, workshops, and reviews.

  • Support improvements in design processes, reporting, and project coordination.
  • Share lessons learned and best practice within the design team.

Success Measures

  • Timely delivery of design information.
  • Design programme adherence.
  • Effective coordination of design activities.
  • Design review actions completed on time.
  • Compliance with design management procedures.

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the Company. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.

The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Sweet Projects is conducted.
