About the Role
Century Facades is seeking an Assistant Design Manager to support the delivery of technically complex façade projects across a diverse portfolio.
Working closely with the Design Manager and wider project teams, you will play a key role in managing the façade design process from design development through manufacture, installation, and completion. You will help ensure designs meet aesthetic, technical, and performance requirements while aligning with programme, budget, and regulatory standards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone ready to step into greater responsibility, combining technical delivery with design coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Project Delivery
- Support the release of coordinated and approved design information into procurement and manufacture, ensuring design priorities are aligned with the project construction programme.
- Support the management and coordination of façade design from concept through to completion.
- Deliver design packages in line with design programme, budget, and project requirements.
- Assist in developing practical, compliant, and buildable technical solutions.
- Ensure all drawings and design information are issued accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Identify and communicate design changes, risks, and additional works.
Design Coordination & Management
- Help manage design programmes, resources, and deliverables.
- Coordinate design team activities (internal and external).
- Lead or contribute to design team meetings and technical discussions.
- Monitor RFIs, design changes, and drawing registers.
- Support production of Contractor’s Design Proposals (CDP) and technical submissions.

Technical & Compliance
- Support the Design Manager in ensuring designs meet building regulations, performance requirements, and company standards.
- Review drawings, calculations, and supplier information for compliance.
- Support development of design documentation including Design Quality Plans.
- Work closely with engineering team on technical solutions.
- Develop an understanding of key façade performance requirements including structural performance, weathertightness, thermal performance, acoustics, fire performance, movement, and tolerances.
Construction & Handover
- Provide technical support to site teams during construction.
- Attend project meetings and assist with resolving site issues.
- Ensure updated drawings are issued and recorded correctly.
- Support handover documentation including as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
Team & Professional Development
- Support and mentor junior designers where appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the design team.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, BIM developments, and regulations.
- Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in façade design or a similar construction-related role.
- Good understanding of façade systems and external building envelopes.
- Understanding of façade interfaces with structure, SFS, waterproofing, fire stopping/cavity barriers, and adjacent trades.
- Design risk management and buildability awareness.
- Good understanding of Building Regulations and Approved Documents.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with BIM environments (e.g. Viewpoint 4P, BIM 360, Trimble Connect).
- Proficiency in CAD and relevant design software.

Desirable
- Awareness of CWCT technical reports, guidance, standards, and test methods.
- Experience using Revit or other 3D modelling tools.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety practices.
- Commercial and project management awareness.
- Membership or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. CIOB, CIAT, RIBA, SFE, CIBSE).
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in a construction-related discipline.
- MSc in Façade Engineering (desirable).
