Assistant Design Manager
Location: Hayes, West London

Salary: £34,000 – £39,000 + Package
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Design Manager to join a specialist contractor delivering a major hyperscale data centre project in West London.
The development includes multiple data halls, high-voltage and medium-voltage energy centres, backup generation and extensive supporting infrastructure. It offers the chance to gain valuable experience on a technically complex scheme while working alongside an experienced design and construction team.
This role would suit someone who has already gained some exposure to design coordination and is now looking to build a long-term career in design management.
Role Overview
You will support the management and coordination of design information from project development through construction and handover.
- Working closely with the Design Manager, consultants, subcontractors and project teams, you will monitor design progress, assist with technical submissions and help ensure information is issued in line with programme requirements.
- The role will also involve supporting design reviews, managing RFIs and approvals, assisting with design changes during construction and helping coordinate as-built information and O&M documentation at handover.
- You will play an important part in maintaining design quality, promoting Safety in Design principles and ensuring the project remains compliant with client requirements, Building Regulations and CDM obligations.

About You
- You will have experience working within a multidisciplinary construction design environment and a good understanding of how design progresses from concept through to completion.
- You should be organised, technically minded and confident communicating with consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams. Knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM and construction design principles is important, while previous experience coordinating design information during live project delivery would be beneficial.
- A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline is required. Candidates working towards professional membership or additional design management training are encouraged to apply.
