About The Job
The Assistant Designer provides essential support to the Designer in developing, progressing, and managing a profitable department across both stores and online. This role involves researching and delivering trend-led ranges that align with the brand's customer and pricing structure. You will manage specific aspects of the department as required, ensuring design concepts are effectively translated into commercial products.
Design & Creativity
- Research, design, and deliver commercial, relevant, and trend-led styles for each selling phase, understanding the specific customer and brand pricing.
- Produce in-depth catwalk trend analysis and detailed range plans for each of the nine selling phases per year.
- Assist in the creation of seasonal trends and colour palettes appropriate to the brand's end use.
- Share opinions and suggestions during weekly Design meetings, supported by inspirational samples and images.
- Proactively obtain research through regular analysis of competitor shops, fashion blogs, and various trend resources.

- Utilise excellent free-hand fashion illustration and technical garment drawing skills to develop products.
- Attend fit sessions to ensure artwork, garment fit, and embellishments are correct and meet brand standards.
- Work closely with Buyers on design briefs and with Creative Pattern Cutters to execute design details and fabric manipulations.
- Identify and flag potential design or technical issues to the Buying team that may impact the Critical Path.
- Complete any other duties as reasonably requested to ensure the continuous development of the business.
Your Talent…
- Excellent free-hand fashion illustration and technical garment drawing skills.
- Demonstrable awareness of the retail industry and current fashion trends.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Exceptional attention to detail across all design and administrative tasks.
- Proactive, vibrant, and spirited approach to challenges within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with absolute discretion.
