Job Summary

Serves as a member of the Admission team responsible for recruiting, evaluating, and enrolling a talented and diverse incoming class. Supports outreach and access initiatives designed to increase the enrollment of students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, including BIPOC, first-generation, low-income, and rural students. Develops relationships with community and school partners, coordinates targeted recruitment programs, recruits within an assigned territory, and participates in application review and admission selection.

Responsibilities

Outreach and Access Strategy

  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Outreach & Access and other members of the Outreach & Access team to develop and implement recruitment and enrollment plans intended to increase the quality and quantity of traditionally underrepresented students at Colorado College.
  • Plans, implements, and assesses recruiting, marketing, selection, and enrollment initiatives focused on underrepresented communities and prepares consistent reports for Admission leadership.
  • Supports and advocates for students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, students from low-income families, and first-generation college students throughout the admission recruitment and evaluation process.
  • Demonstrates a personal and professional commitment to college access, educational equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism.

Community Partnerships and Territory Management

  • Identifies, cultivates, and maintains partnerships with community-based organizations, school system networks, high school counselors, CC alumni, and other external constituents that align with the College’s mission and core values.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and School System Networks (SSNs), with particular attention to organizations in Colorado, the Pikes Peak region, and assigned recruitment markets.
  • Recruits prospective students from an assigned geographic territory, manages relationships with high school counselors and other partners within the territory, and travels approximately six to eight weeks during key recruitment periods.
  • Collaborates with territory managers to identify potential partnerships and establish objectives for in-person and virtual visits and maintains an accurate, up-to-date CBO and SSN database.
  • Partners with the Communications Team to develop and maintain a communication plan supporting ongoing CBO and SSN engagement and represents Colorado College at national programs and conferences focused on admission access.

Recruitment Programs and Prospective Student Engagement

  • Coordinates and carries out recruitment and yield efforts for targeted student populations in collaboration with campus partners, including the Stroud Scholars Program, Bridge Scholars Program, Student Life Division, and other key constituents.
  • Supervises student interns. Partners with the Office of Financial Aid to support prospective students and families with financial aid completion.
  • Coordinates and implements Funded Campus Visit programs, including Experience Colorado College and the Admitted Student Open House Fly-In, with responsibilities encompassing participant selection, programming, project management, budget management, and reporting.
  • Participates in general yield activities, leads information sessions, and promotes a welcoming atmosphere while providing prospective students and families with accurate information about Colorado College.
  • Communicates with constituents through email, phone, virtual platforms, and other methods and develops, reviews, and edits visit-related communications and responses. Collaborates with Admission colleagues and teams on special programs and projects.

Application Review and Selection

  • Serves as a senior application reader and key participant in the QuestBridge selection process.
  • Reviews electronic applications and evaluates academic performance, writing preparation, and other application materials; records relevant information; and assigns ratings in accordance with established admission rubrics.
  • Provides context and analysis regarding applicant pools and assigned recruitment markets, contributes to subcommittee and full committee discussions, and serves as a voting member of the admission committee.

Operational and Institutional Responsibilities

  • Provides operational support to the Outreach & Access area and serves as a designated decision-maker in the absence of the Associate Director of Outreach & Access.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and environmental responsibility by working safely, following College procedures, immediately reporting unsafe conditions and accidents, participating in required safety training, using College resources responsibly, and supporting the College’s sustainability initiatives and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years of experience in a related field

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range

  • $48,013 to $57,616 per year
