This is an opportunity to join the Chief Regional Delivery Office at a very exciting time. Homes England is the Government’s housing and regeneration agency. We are entering an exciting new phase, working through a regional and national operating model that will deliver homes, unlock regeneration and create places that thrive. Job Description

We have an ambitious agenda to deliver and we work at pace. The Assistant Director role is central to the support the Chief Regional Delivery Officer to enable delivery of the Agency’s mission to unlock and accelerate the delivery of strategic projects in line with strategic masterplans, local and national place priorities.

The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of strategic and daily operations of the Directorate. Leading a team that delivers key operational activity within the Private Office and Operational Support, as well as providing comprehensive support, the Chief Regional Delivery Officer and Executive Directors.

The role will significantly influence the planning and implementation of strategies aligned to agreed Directorate goals and objectives. The role will be responsible for implementing strategies, development of oversight of Chief Regional Delivery Support and ensuring commissions, with Homes England and external partners delivered. Lead on key cross-cutting project work and ensuring where to focus energy, manage interdependencies and working with stakeholders to ensure effective communication of key messages.

You’ll need support the Chief Regional Delivery Officer who may frequently be around the country, therefore do be expect to regularly travel in this role.

Person specification

It is essential that you have extensive demonstrable senior level experience in housing policy or operational development, property development, town planning, and economic development sectors. Specific knowledge of property and housing with demonstrable experience supporting senior leaders with extensive knowledge and experience of working across all operational aspects of a business.

For us, your leadership behaviours are as important as your experience as you’ll embed the values and behaviours in daily work, contributing to a positive and inclusive culture. We need you to have a degree or a relevant professional qualification or significant senior level experience in the housing, development, town planning or regeneration sectors is essential. You’ll be representing the Agency at senior-level meetings and in the media too, therefore we’ll need you to be confident in your engagement skills.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the strategic and operational impact of what we do, as the role leads a team to deliver.
